Child Watch is a safe, cheerful and engaging environment for children to enjoy while their parents spend time at the Y. The program is for children 6 months to 9 years old, and is only to be used while parents are at the Y. 

 

This service is free to members with a family membership

Non-Member children are $5 per day and can be paid with the front desk.

Rules for Child Watch

  • Child Watch is designed for children 6 months of age to 9 years old
  • Children are allowed to be in Child Watch for up to 2 hours.
  • Every child utilizing the room will be required to be signed in & out using the Child Watch Check In/Out system using the provided iPad.
    • Children will only be released to the person who signed them in unless prior authorization is given.
  • Parents must remain on YMCA grounds and be accessible in case of emergency.
  • Safety of all participants is our top priority.
  • Sick children will not be allowed in Child Watch
    • Children must be fever-free for at least 24 hours before attending.
  • Cubbies are available in the room to store diaper bags, sweaters, coats, boots, etc.
  • Children should use the bathroom prior to entering the Child Watch room. There is a bathroom in the room, however potty trained children must use the restroom independently.
  • Staff are not permitted to change diapers. In the case of an accident, parent/guardians will be contacted and are expected to change the diaper immediately.
  • No outside toys, food or beverage are allowed in Child Watch.
  • We will always treat children in our care with kindness and respect.  We ask that the children do the same to the Staff and the other children utilizing the Child Watch Area. YMCA staff use redirection, positive reinforcement and problem-solving techniques to assist in learning moments.
  • If a child cries for 10 consecutive minutes, a parent will be called to pick them up
  • YMCA staff document any and all unsafe, unacceptable or suspicious behavior of children within Child Watch. If a child is playing to rough, hitting, throwing, yelling, using inappropriate language, or will not listen to the staff on behavior issues the adult will be asked to remove the child.
  • All YMCA Child Watch Staff are required by law to report any suspected abuse or neglect to a YMCA supervisor.
